We knew that we wanted to watch the election coverage with other Americans, so we ventured out to Palermo, the posh tourist-friendly neighborhood to the north of us. It was really crowded at Sugar, a bar that was screening the election coverage on CNN. We got there at 9pm Buenos Aires time (6pm EST), and the place was already packed! Soon after we arrived we hear there was a line out the door, and we're positive we were already violating fire codes.
Zac, in the red shirt, did a great job monitoring traffic through our tiny niche of the bar, and ensured us excellent viewing conditions throughout the night.
We were there for about six hours, hanging on Wolf Blitzer's every word. Looks like Nathan got hungry.
It was a very Obama-friendly crowd.
And look, we were on TV! Camera men and women were everywhere. One reporter even passed out "Obama!" signs and incited some chanting in order to stir up the crowd and get a more exciting shot.
Our friend Jo brought her camera, too, and interviewed us for her documentary!
Zac and Grace imagine their reaction to an Obama victory. This is a simulated response, and not the real thing.
Nell gives us a (real) reaction to the unsurprising news that Louisiana had gone red for McCain.
Dinah and I celebrate Kay Hagin's victory in the Senate race in North Carolina.
Okay, this is not a drill! Zac is really happy because CNN has just predicted that Barack Obama has won the election!
Nell is fiercely happy! Everyone in the bar at this moment had leapt to their feet. Many people were standing on chairs. Many glasses containing alcoholic beverages were broken. The celebration was tremendous!
